Fake IPL betting platform uses AI deepfakes of cricketers, then blocks your withdrawal

Deepfake videos of cricketers promote fake IPL betting platforms on Instagram and Telegram. Early wins build confidence; once you deposit larger amounts, withdrawals are blocked or denied. Over 1,200 domains operated during IPL 2026.

Also known as: fake IPL betting app, cricket deepfake betting scam, illegal IPL prediction group, AI deepfake cricket endorsement scam

What to do right now

  1. 1 Never deposit money on a platform promoted via a social media video or Telegram group — legitimate services do not recruit this way
  2. 2 Reverse-image or reverse-video search any celebrity endorsement before trusting it; check the cricketer's official accounts for a real mention
  3. 3 Real-money online gambling is illegal under the Public Gambling Act and the Online Gaming Act 2025 in most Indian states — do not use such platforms
  4. 4 If you have already deposited, do not pay any additional 'GST', 'verification', or 'KYC' fee — you will not recover the money that way
  5. 5 Report at https://cybercrime.gov.in or call 1930 (national cyber helpline).

Red flags

  • The endorsement is a short Instagram Reel or Telegram video of a cricketer or celebrity — these are AI deepfakes, not real endorsements
  • Early bets return small genuine wins (designed to build trust); once you deposit a large amount, withdrawal is blocked or denied
  • Platform is not licensed by any Indian gaming regulator — real-money online gambling is illegal in most Indian states
  • Over 1,200 illegal IPL betting domains operated during IPL 2026; most disappear after the season ends
  • Deposits go into accounts that look like regular businesses — part of a money mule network routing fraud proceeds
  • Withdrawal blocked pending a 'GST on winnings' fee, 'verification' fee, or 'KYC charge' — these are second-layer theft

Known variants

  • 600+ fake IPL ticket portals mimic BookMyShow/District by Zomato — victims pay via UPI, receive a professional fake PDF ticket that fails at the stadium gate. 400+ fake free-streaming sites deliver SHub Stealer malware, stealing browser passwords, Telegram sessions, iCloud credentials, and crypto wallet seed phrases.
